Focused on Integrating Marketing & Sales for Success

BACKGROUND
I have long been impressed and intrigued by the development of and loyalty to great brands, be it a product, service or company. What contributes to their success?  One potential answer is described below.

As a sales and marketing professional at a Fortune 100 company for 30 years, I have come to better appreciate the effort involved in establishing strong brand equity. In short, it takes an integrated enterprise wide effort that includes, among other functions, sales, marketing and operations to meet customer demands, as well as sustain positive customer experiences over time.

For these reasons, whether as a Marketing or Sales leader, I can't recall a time when I was not encouraging, facilitating or developing an integrated approach to planning, assessment and implementation.

RESULTS
I was fortunate to have led or worked within teams that a) achieved #1 Territory, District and Region (sales / share / growth) rankings, b) won multiple Marketing / Sales Awards and c) grew brand or region sales to levels ranging from $400M to >$1.5B.  Put simply, it would have been very difficult to accomplish these goals without the pursuit of seamless integration across the Marketing and Sales functions.

As I embark on the next chapter of my career and further research the topic, I find myself contemplating the following - why true Sales and Marketing integration continues to elude many companies. Successful strategies are available.
